Everyone wants to have high Facebook engagement. Yet posting on Facebook can be tricky. You want to entice people to your product or service, but your Facebook profile shouldn’t be all about the sales. That will turn everyone off: not only your friends and family, but potential prospects to! People don’t come on to Facebook to be sold; they come for an experience and to connect with people. If you use your Facebook page – both your personal page and your fan page to connect with people, then you will get more leads and sales than you can handle! But it takes practice and there are some definite elements to a successful Facebook post.
If you are like most small business owners, you will have prospects on your personal page: some you know about and some “secret” prospects” that haven’t come out to you yet! You may friend people who are possible prospects and then you will have friends and family who may end up becoming customers. It is far easier to interact on your personal page, so you definitely want to post things that intrigue people and get you leads but won’t turn off your friends & family.
Remember that the ultimate goal is to get more people to your fan page. Yes, that takes time – and you will get there – but meanwhile there are things you can post on your personal page that will be successful and won’t offend anyone!
The goal of these types of FB post for your business is to get leads and sales. You want to do that by branding yourself and not your primary opportunity and to get people to respond!
There are 5 elements that increase Facebook engagement. You don’t need a long post to have all of these elements. Your post can only be a few sentences long and contain them all! Honestly, even if you don’t hit every single one of them, make sure you have at least 2 or 3. Find and follow/friend leaders and take a look at what they post as examples. Ask yourself where these elements are in their post: that’s the best way to learn.
So, without further ado, here are the famous 5 elements of a great Facebook post:
Facebook Engagement Secret #1: Grab Attention
You want your post to grab attention. Share something about yourself. Ask a question. Use a crazy pic. The point is to get noticed.
Facebook Engagement Secret #2: Add Credibility
You want to add credibility and authority to your post. If you are new and don’t feel you have the credibility, use the credibility of someone else. Prove your point; use data social proof or personal experience. All of that leads to credibility and authority.
Facebook Engagement Secret #3: Uniqueness
You want your post to have a unique promise, resolution or story. Don’t just simply copy someone else’s post. You can copy the spirit of the post, but definitely make that post about you or how what you offer is different than everyone else. You definitely don’t want to be cookie cutter here.
Facebook Engagement Secret #4: Benefits
You want to convey to people that you have a benefit that they may want. Remember that benefits aren’t the solution to their problem; benefits are what they enjoy because of your solution! Benefits are the reason “why”. More time, money, and love are all benefits.
Facebook Engagement Secret #5: Call To Action
You want to tell people what to do once they finish reading your post. Remember that not every post should sell something! A call to action could be simply asking them to comment or to PM you for more info. You may supply free training or ask them to join your mailing list. Yes, some of your posts can definitely have a sales component but they should be a small percentage based upon the rest of your posts. This is the last thing you put in your post: the rest of your post should be compelling enough that responding to the call to action is irresistible.
Here are some great examples of Facebook posts that work. Each one of these posts was created by a top earner. They are getting results! Can you figure out why?
