No, not that list.
The other list.
Confused? Let me explain.
When you are new to network marketing, your sponsor will tell you to create a list of everyone you know. That is a great idea, but not for the reasons you think! I cover that in this blog post. This is your “warm market list”.
The List I'm talking about is the list of leads you build while online. When someone clicks a link to sign up to get a product or webinar (free or paid), s/he will be asked for their email address (this is called a capture page). That is collected via a product called an “auto-responder”. This email list is a collection of individuals that have expressed interest in your product, service, and most importantly, YOU.
You have the right and ability to communicate with your group. If you manage your list correctly, you build relationships with these folk online and offline. If you take care of your list, they may buy from you or join your team.
Unlike Facebook, Twitter, and other social media, you own your list. Facebook, for example, can decide to ban you or go out of business. Nobody can take your list away from you!
So how do you get people on your list and what do you do when you have them?
Generating Online Leads
The process of getting people to subscribe to your list is called “generating online leads” via “online marketing” or “attraction marketing”. You create or provide valuable content and distribute that content to various social media. If people are drawn to you, then you will get followers, likes, comments, shares, and subscribers.
The internet is vast. There are a million ways to generate leads online and I couldn't possibly write about them all in this blog post! But everything I've learned about online marketing was through an education platform called MLSP. They keep me up to date on the latest tactics & strategies covering the entire online universe. I still haven't learned it all!
Interacting With Your List
When you collect names on your list, its important to take care of it. People will quickly unsubscribe if they don't like your message or if you seem too spammy.
The best way to communicate with them is to be short, sweet, & authentic. Tell them a story of why you are contacting them — make sure they know what's in it for them. You contact your list to inform them of newly created content by you (blog post, videos, etc), upcoming webinars or a new course offering.
You can — and should — also call your leads. In some cases, you may capture a phone number. If not, simply drop them a personal note, send them your number and ask for theirs. Call them to find out how they are doing. Find out their needs and you will then qualify them to see if your products or business opportunity can be a solution.
What do you do next? Ask for a presentation — or the sale.
There are a ton of scripts and strategies for that follow-up conversation. But you get the idea.
Ultimately, you are, as I said, establishing a relationship with the people on your list. You earn their trust — so, if you offer a product or service in the future, you are more likely to get the sale.
Top earners have lists of subscribers in the hundreds of thousands! They have earned their followers' trust. One webinar or course offering can generate thousands of dollars in one email!
