Are you having trouble earning commissions with your business? There are three possible reasons you are having problems, and if you follow these three solutions, your problems will go away FOREVER. Guaranteed.
Lack of ACTION
You are not doing any income producing activities. Period. What are income producing activities? Anything that gets people in front of your presentation and the follow-up. You need to do the following activities on a daily basis.
- Prospecting — this means talking to people to find out if they are qualified leads. There are 2 types of leads: customers and potential team members.
- Presentation Appointments – Asking your leads for an appointment to see your presentation (business building, which leads to commissions later) or asking your leads to try your product (which leads to commissions now)
- Follow up. Follow up with your leads. You will have to follow-up multiple times. Be prepared.
- Social Media Work. — This may mean producing your own content, working on gaining more followers, an interacting with the audience that you already have. This work will lead to leads.
Lack of CONSISTENCY
You must be consistent with you business. All of your activities must be done not only on a daily basis, but continuously – daily, weekly, monthly. Sometimes the work you do on day one will not manifest to a commission until day 90. Why, you ask? Because all of these activities build on each other. Following up with a prospect on a regular basis means that you may have spoken to them 12 times before they sign up. Maybe an online lead becomes a lead because she sees your blog posts on a daily basis. Maybe another lead sees your Facebook or Twitter posts, and by the second month decides to click that link. Everything you do is cumulative! Think of your tasks like planting apple seeds and watering them. They don't grow into plants immediately! But they will eventually become tall plants, little trees and then trees bearing fruit. But that can't happen if you don't take care of the seeds.
There is a 21/90 rule that I learned recently: “it takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to create a lifestyle”.
Lack of FOCUS
I mentioned before about the income producing activities you need to be doing on a daily basis. And I kept it simple for a reason: there are plenty of strategies — good strategies — taught by experts on how to perform these tasks. Many of us get into “analysis paralysis” and, in an effort to become a top earner, seek out a ton of education and learn as much as we can. And you SHOULD. That's great! But as many teachers are our there, so are strategies, and when you try to implement them all, you lose focus, and you don't master ANY strategy and you fail.
I'm going to be honest. That had been one of my issues. The moment that I started to just focus on one strategy and implement it on a consistent basis until I become great at it was the moment I actually started to make money! Now, notice what I just said. FOCUS on one strategy and implement it (ACTION) with CONSISTENCY.
They all fit together.
I promised you three reasons, but I actually have a bonus reason for you:
Lack of a Plan
You can have all the focus in the world, and be consistent with lots of action but it won't amount to commissions unless those actions are part of a plan. You have to take some time and map out the strategies you will use for your business (online, offline, which social media platform, etc), map those strategies to action, schedule the time to do the work and the goals you want to achieve. Now, this doesn't have to be a large traditional business plan, nor does it have to be perfect! It can be a one pager — but it has to be written. This way you can refer to it on a regular basis and change it when necessary. You will inevitably make changes as you grow — your goals will grow, your strategies will change or shift and therefore your actions may differ slightly. The point is, you are not navigating this business blindly.
Sounds great, right? You may be thinking — how do I accomplish all of that!!? Ask your sponsor or someone in your upline to help you create a plan. If not, find a coach (I know a great coach who can help you – LOL) who can help you write one — the investment is worth it. Would you pay for a blueprint to success? Having that expertise will shave years of effort — remember, you are utilizing their expertise so that you don't make the same mistakes they made. Or, you can just try to create one on your own. Just do it. It doesn't matter if it's a “good plan” or a “bad plan” — just write the plan! Remember you can always make changes later.
