It is a common first task for network marketers to write a list of everyone they know, but at least 200 people. You don’t know 200 people you say? Yes you do. Really, you do. Check your contacts in your phone. Your Facebook friends list. You can come up with this list.
It was difficult for me to do this list, at first. Why? You ask. Because instead of just following the task, my brain got in the way.
“I shouldn’t put Nancy on the list. She wouldn’t be interested in this business.”
“I haven’t spoken to Trey in like 2 years. That would be awful for me to pitch this to him now.”
Well, nobody was asking all of that! The task was to simply write the list.
There are a few reasons for this. Many of us aren’t conscious of the vast network we actually do possess. This list helps us see that. Secondly, this helps us decide whom to approach, how and why. Not everyone is necessarily a prospect. But everyone knows other people – and that’s the key. Their network.
The fact is, this list should grow daily. Expanding your network should be a primary goal.
And that’s not work. It’s fun. It’s called socializing. Yeah….I remember socializing…that was fun….
Where was I? Oh. Right.
If you don’t socialize that much anymore, you need to make an effort to do so. If not for your business, then for your sanity. Once you force yourself to do it, you’ll realize how much you need that time in your life. It’s ok to play sometimes. And now….playing can grow your business! How cool is that!
