Hey, now! It's day 2 and here I am. 🙂
So, I guess I should start by telling you what it is I do.
I have a home business that I market primarily online. You could also call me an online marketer. I have a few streams of income: I am in both network marketing and affiliate marketing.
What's the difference?
Well affiliate marketing is when you get paid for selling someone else's product. A commission. I actually go over some basics here:
Network marketing is basically doing the same thing, but with a major difference: if you bring people into your team, you also get paid on the sales they make as well. Different network marketing companies have different rules, but at the end of the day, you are basically getting paid to lead and train a team. You don't just make that money because they are nice! Nope – you actually have a responsibility to the people underneath you. And it is very rewarding. Here is where most of the residual income comes in — you can get paid for your team even if you don't make sales that month (although different companies have different rules, so this is mostly true). I don't have a video that explains network marketing. (hmmm….. that gives me an idea…..)
One could say that having multiple projects dilutes your attention so that you don't make a ton of money in any. Well, that may be true in the beginning, but once you become a pro, this is not true at all. In fact, you want to have multiple streams of income — what happens if one company goes out of business? You have multiple streams to protect yourself from risk.
One could even say that having just one job is super risky. That's true. 🙂 But anyway, moving on….
The reason I am involved in all of them is simple. They are congruent and work with each other. And I can help more people.
My network marketing company helps people start their own businesses. It is a skill set and a profession and its super rewarding. You learn so much it's like getting paid to go to Harvard. Yeah, seriously. For some, this is where they stay. For others, it's a stepping stone to other opportunities and dreams. Either way, it's all good.
One affiliate company teaches attraction marketing and free online strategies to build you business by getting leads and sales. The other teaches paid strategies (as in, strategies that you must pay for, like advertising). Both say they are the best approach, but to be honest, you need BOTH. I use both.
So there you have it. If you want to know more about the companies I'm a part of and work with me, email me or find me on Facebook and send me a message. 🙂
So, my goal every day is to build my business. Because I have that job and long commute, I have to focus mostly online because it offers the most flexibility. But there are great offline strategies too.
In order for me to succeed, I need to cover the basics. They are:
- build an audience
- engage the audience
- sell to the audience
I do that by creating content (like this blog post), social media posts and interactions, and outright prospecting. Every day, I should be reaching out to people, posting content, engaging with my friends & followers, and following up on people interested in joining me.
*whew* that's a lot of work.
I am NOT going to sugar coat it. This is a lot of work. Please don't let other people tell you it's not. And there is a lot to learn!
But it is totally worth it.
So, I need to do all of this in between my job, my 5 hour commute, managing my household, managing my kids, managing my husband (ha ha – baby it's just a joke!), spending quality time with my family and friends, and sleep.
They say you need that stuff. Sleep.
I've been doing this for over 10 years, but let me be clear:
I stopped and started a million times.
I was doing the wrong things. I wasn't trained correctly.
And most importantly —- I did NOT do the work.
That has changed — and since then I've been getting results. Well, what do you know? Work works! LOL
So there you have it. Stay tuned for tomorrow where I start my confessions.
To Your Victory,
